Review of the Bling Ring Movie – Why Is it So Popular?

The Bling Ring Movie is a charming comedy about two high school drop outs who become instant ball players because of their “bling” rings. In all seriousness, the ring becomes an important accessory throughout the movie and it helps them achieve their goals, while also becoming an accessory for Lindsay Lohan’s character to ridicule other people with. There are jokes throughout the film involving women, but the ring itself becomes the butt of many jokes. This movie is appropriate for mature audiences, but it is probably not going to be a hit with little kids because of the violence and crude humor in the plot.

The Bling Ring Movie stars Damon Aronofsky as David, a young man who gets his big chance at fame when he “bangs” the head off of a record label head (played by Leighton Meester) and ends up getting arrested because of his bright and bouncy “bling.” He is subsequently barred from using the channel as a talent agent, but when he witnesses a street fight, he decides to come to the aid of the injured man, only to get beaten up and pepper-sprayed in the face. In an attempt to defend himself, David gets sprayed in the face by a woman, so he goes to the hospital where he is hit with a cure for acne that leaves him looking like a monster. With this eye-opening experience, he decides to turn himself in to a psychologist and perform a little “psychological research,” which turns out to be his real talent.

The Bling Ring Movie follows the lives of a young man named David, who is appearing in his first music video, and a sixteen-year-old girl called Sierra, who is a member of the alternative school on her own dirt farm. Sierra is the new girl on the block, who is also under the impression that she is the new Bling Ring, the latest teen star. When the two begin to exchange letters, the both of them soon find themselves falling for one another. But the attraction isn’t long-lasting, as Sierra wants more from David, whilst David is still caught up in his own life. As their relationship grows, it becomes clear that they are destined to spend the rest of their lives in each other’s company, which seems to only prove that the Bling Ring was meant to be.
