Where are they now?
The Bling Ring is a group of fame-obsessed teens who burglarised the homes of A-list celebrities in the early aughts. They allegedly stole more than $3 million in cash and designer merchandise from Hilton, Bloom and others.
Sofia Coppola’s 2013 drama, Bling Ring, based on the Vanity Fair article by Nancy Jo Sales, was released in 2013. It featured Emma Watson as Neiers and Israel Broussard as Prugo.
It also featured the hysterical reaction of Alexis Neiers to the headline on Sales’ piece: “Nancy Jo, this is Alexis Neiers calling.”
In real life, Nick Prugo was a drug addict who joined the gang as a way to sustain his addiction and maintain a high-end lifestyle. A 2010 Vanity Fair interview revealed that he began stealing luxury cars to make ends meet, but it quickly grew into the looting of celebrity homes.
Netflix is set to release its docu-series about the group of teen burglars called The Real Bling Ring: Hollywood Heist on September 21. The three-part series will feature commentary from the actual members of the gang.
How much jail time did Nick Prugo get?
The gang consisted of seven teenagers and young adults based in Calabasas, California. They were convicted of burglarizing the homes of Paris Hilton, Orlando Bloom, Lindsay Lohan and more. Rachel Lee, Nick Prugo and Alexis Neiers served a total of 16 months in prison for their crimes, according to ABC News. Diana Tamayo and Johnny Ajar were sentenced to probation. They haven’t made any public appearances since.
