A bling bling mask is the perfect way to get into character at a comic convention, or even for a costume party. This simple project is easy to customize, and the results are a fun addition to any Halloween outfit.
To start, you’ll need a black fabric face mask and some rhinestones. We used a mix of Dark Siam and Clear rhinestones to crystallize this mask. We started by adding the larger stones to the main areas, like the eyes and mouth, and then using single crystals to add details to the more intricate shapes. Once you’ve completed the main areas, let the mask dry for 24 hours.
Tip:
Spangle Elite is a great tool for adding bling to fabric masks. It allows you to create a design in its software, and then “print” it out onto a transfer sheet. You can fit 6 of these designs on a single 15″ x 12″ transfer sheet, so it’s an inexpensive and efficient way to add lots of bling to a mask. Plus, you can easily remove the spangles if you decide to repurpose the mask later. Bling masks are a perfect way to support your school’s cheer and spirit team, or to simply show off your style.
