Bling Ring: From the Hollywood Movie to the Real World
The Bling Ring of Las Vegas is the newest release from award winning director Tyrel O’Conner, who also wrote and directed the film. The movie revolves around a middle-aged woman named Sahara whose life is changed by a series of events surrounding a ring that makes her look like a supermodel. She gets so addicted to the ring that she becomes arrogant and wealthy without doing much for herself. But when her husband (rative and played by Russell Banks) purchases the ring for her from a black market dealer, it changes everything for her – and for the world. It also prompts her to find love and enjoy her newly found freedom.
There are a number of real-life inspirations for the ring in the movie and it’s easy to see why the Bling Ring of Las Vegas has become a sensation. The ring itself was inspired by the Louis Vuitton Carousel, which you may remember from the movie “ennaise”. While many of the carousel’s pieces are modeled on actual Louis Vuitton products, the ring includes a diamond encrusted “carousel” that really looks like something out of an old western saloon. This inspiration has also inspired the names of the cars in the ring – “ritzies” and “champers”. These names are also related to current car models, including the Porsche and Rolls Royce, and have all been used in the making of the movie.
The movie and the video game also take their inspiration from Louis Vuitton, which is understandable given the popularity of the brand. Other inspirations come from other celebrities, including Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Jessica Alba, Ashlee Simpson, Mariah Carey, and Nicole Ritchie. While all of these girls wear the bling ring as accessories, the one that seems to get everyone excited is Lohan. The Internet and blogs are abuzz with pictures and videos of the star wearing her latest accessory, which includes the bling ring. Many of the pictures are posted on celeb gossip blogs, but it appears that the buzz really started when Lohan gave a brief interview to Time Magazine in which she was asked about her latest acquisition. While discussing the ring, she mentioned how excited she was to get it, and how pricey it was.
